Disappointed

Sadly, this is the poorest of the Choice Novels on Itunes I have read so far...though I am a huge fan of these kinds of novels/games.

Hmm its okay...

Ive enjoyed all the choice of games but this one just isnt as good.

..

It was pretty short and not very in depth. Pretty funny, though. No real replayability.

First review

A very well written interactive novel for young adults who enjoy a book that allows you to decide its path instead of a fixed journey. This is the next of a group of well written CYOA games on the App Store that takes you on a journey of morals and adventure for fame and fortune and I must say after playing it several times I believe it to be of high calibre and look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work and sorry for the lack of detail I dont want to spoil a good story for those who read this review.

Too short....

Was very short compared to the other Choice of Games. The plot was one that I would consider poor and underdeveloped. If you havent played games like Heroes Rise or Way Walkers, I suggest those games over this one. Whereas the other games I would replay over and over again and would find a sequel potential, this game does neither for me. Not worth $1.99 and not CoGs best.

Good

A bit short but still worth it.

Meh

Defiantly the least interesting COG

A Bit of a Let Down

I found this to be a bit on the short side. While I did enjoy the story the first time, I finished it in about 20 minutes. In my opinion, not worth 1.99. As with other CoG games, I think they should be free to download, but have ads instead of charging for the app.

Im sorry to say

I usually love the games COG puts out, but this one, its not worth the money. It was a good idea, no denying that, but its short, and thats not bad if the writing gives you a good story, but it sadly doesnt even give you that. It was a disappointment in my opinion. I hate saying it but there it is, but people there are plenty more good games from this company...this just isnt one of them.

Just bad

This is by far the worst cog game ive ever paid for. Not at all worth the money. Short, poorly written, really linear, bad plot, boring... Next time i will wait for some reviews before i buy the game

Get with it

Need to stop making these bs games and make some sequels to the great ones youve already made

Poor Effort Guys

I love all the other novels, was really disappointed by this one.

Alright

I played once as a boozy sex fiend and found it pretty funny. Playing again as a different personality didnt change anything plot-wise and was less funny to read. Didnt find a lot of replay value, YMMV?

Rad

Love playing through this game-- irreverent humor abounds, I got malaria, got some action, and even picked up a little bit of archaeology know-how! There are a lot of forks early on, so dont be deterred by a short initial play-through. There are many more paths to explore!!

Not bad

Yeah it wasnt the greatest(if you havent DO try heroes rise and waywalkers university) but it wasnt horrible either xD

Alright

I liked the concept, but the sex thing was overdone.

Fun

Reminds me of the choose your own adventure books. Enjoyed the writing

An Homage to the Golden Era of CYOAs

The 1980s were the Golden Era of Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) novels. A child of the 80s, I fondly remember collecting and reading over a hundred of these simple books, usually during summer breaks and in between the time commitments made to Tolkien, Bradbury, and Asimov. If youre on the market for a novel with strong characters, takeaway value, intricate metaphors, and rich context, then you shouldnt be picking up a CYOA. Rather, the chief attraction of the CYOA is the readers stake in the outcome of the narrative. That is, at various points in the story arc, the reader is given a choice, and each choice begets more options, ultimately leading to a particular conclusion. The book can then be re-read with new choices and new outcomes. Formatted for the smartphone, CYOAs are now even more interactive than their older, text-based counterparts, affording opportunities for the reader to enter story-specific information (e.g., the name of a character) as well as a much-expanded set of options and outcomes. Importantly, readers should not have high expectations for CYOAs. They were originally intended for 10-15 year-olds, meant to be light fun, and always intended to engage young imaginations. To this end, "To the City of the Clouds" does not disappoint. The subject matter is most definitely intended for an older teenager and young adult audience; several adult themes (booze, sex, etc.) are touched on in the story arc. And thats exactly why I picked it up in the first place. "To the City of the Clouds" lets me relive the lighthearted fun of a CYOA all the while lightly referencing experiences and vices Ive accumulated since the 1980s.

Pretty Fun

This game had very funny writing and a fun story though I felt it was a little short.

Fun game

Could play numerous times and never repeat the same story. Very creative.
